The Weather Station and Sam Moss Live From the Red Room

Tune in to birnCORE Wednesday, April 4th @ 8 PM EST for a live broadcast from The Red Room @ Cafe 939 featuring The Weather Station and Sam Moss.

The Weather Station is the fourth and most forthright album by The Weather Station, the project of Toronto songwriter Tamara Lindeman. Lindeman wanted to make a rock and roll record, but have it sound how she wants it to sound. The result is a spirited, frequently topical tour de force that declares its understated feminist politics, and its ambitious new sonic directions, from its first moments. Clay Cook Live From the Red Room

Tune in tonight, Saturday, April 28th @ 8 PM EST for a live broadcast from The Red Room @ Cafe 939 featuring Clay Cook of Zac Brown Band.

Clay Cook has made a living in many ways in the music industry. An accomplished songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, he has recorded and toured with John Mayer, Sugarland, the Marshall Tucker Band, and Shawn Mullins.

His debut album, Unobstructed View, was recorded over three years in between touring with Zac Brown Band and at points Cook never thought the album would be completed. Overcoming all the obstacles thrown at him, he started to record one song at a time and eventually recorded, mixed, and mastered the eleven songs on the record.

He says, “It’s been a long road to make this record. There are a few pretty telling snapshots into my personal life — but that’s who I am and how I write. I’m very proud of the record that we all made.”

Johnson reached out to Craigie, and in the summer of 2017 they they toured together including stops at The Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California and The Gorge in Washington state.

The Stranger calls his music, ““…the lovechild of John Prine and Mitch Hedberg with a vagabond troubadour edge.”

Lauren Ruth Ward, SLUGS & Grace Givertz Live From the Red Room

Tune in to birnCORE tonight, Thursday, April 26th @ 8 PM EST for a live broadcast from The Red Room @ Cafe 939 featuring Lauren Ruth Ward.
At 22 years old, Lauren Ruth Ward had a career in hairstyling that was going quite well. She was ambitious, successful, and doing work she loved, yet something was missing. In 2015 she decided to pack up and move to Los Angeles to start a career in music. After meeting Liv Slingerland, India Pasucci, and Eduardo Rivera, she was able to write and record her debut album, Well, Hell. Well, Hell features nine tracks, which Ward calls the band’s “four modes.”

Since releasing her debut, her music has spread like wildfire throughout LA. Her lyrics are secrets to strangers, writing about her life’s trajectory sharing both vulnerability and strength delivered with grit and vibrato. Her band re-creates 60’s rock and roll nuances, allowing Ward to release a powerhouse of raw, visceral emotion in their live show.

SLUGS is an indie rock band based in Los Angeles and originally from Rochester, NY.

Grace Givertz is an indie folk singer-songwriter based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dan Russell is a highly revered artist manager and advocate, concert promoter, producer, creative collaborator, and video and film music supervisor. He has worked with the likes of U2, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Sam Phillips, Switchfoot, and countless others.

Although he was greatly successful on the business side of the music industry, his love for music started after high school as a singer and guitarist. After many years working on the business side, his true passion for songwriting called him back and he decided to pursue that part of his life. The guitars then came out of their cases and studio time was booked to record a series of his personal songs, the cryings of his own heart.

A combination of effected electric, raw folk, crafty lyrics and layered harmonies, Boketto the Wolf has defined their presence amongst the Boston music scene.

L.A. Salami is a singer-songwriter from London, England, known for crafting magnetic blues/rock songs with a postmodern twist.

Most of his teens and early 20s were spent on the move, rarely settling in one place for more than few months. This lifestyle gave him a unique outlook which inspired lyrics and concepts in his songwriting. Hearing Bob Dylan on the radio led Salami to discovering and later exploring the blues and folk genres.
