The Accidentals, a female–fronted, multi-instrumentalist power trio composed of Sav Buist, Katie Larson, and Michael Dause, kicked off 2018 with the release of their album Odyssey, on Sony Masterworks. They followed the release with two hundred days of touring nationally, seventeen festival appearances, placements with Turner Classic Movies and FOX sports, and a RAM Trucks BANDvan #tourtough commercial.

The Flagstaff, AZ, band Tow’rs stopped by the BIRN studios to play two of their intimate originals “Holy Water” and “The Kitchen.” Band members Kyle Miller, Gretta Miller, Kyle Keller, and Dan Bagley found each other through their deep love of music and storytelling, exploring the questions that haunt us, the pain that marks us, and the hope that redefines everything.

Payton Gin, an alternative rock band based in Boston, performed on BIRN Alive December 1. This video highlights two songs from their six-song set: “He Saw Me Go Insane” and “Rendezvous.”
The first song talks about a trip Liv took to New York with her partner at the time, and the experiences that came with it. The second song is a story about a man who falls for a girl who is very much out of his league.

Folk-rock violinist, vocalist, and songwriter Aisha Burns stopped by the BIRN studios recently for a live performance and interview.
Burns was raised in Texas and is now based in Massachusetts. She began her journey in the folk-rock world in 2005 and was touring and recording by 2006. Aisha released Life in the Midwater, her debut album, in 2013, and this May released Argonauta. NPR points out the “delicate intimacy” of her music while Dazed Magazine describes the works in Life in the Midwater as “twisting, ethereal, and arresting.”

Multi-ethnic Latin pop/folk singer Gina Chavez stopped by the BIRN studios recently for a live performance and interview.
Chavez is known for blending the sounds of her many influences seamlessly. She has had a great deal of success in her career, hitting the top of the Amazon and Latin iTunes charts after her national feature on NPR’s “All Things Considered.” In 2015, Chavez performed with her band on NPR’s Tiny Desk concerts, making the top 15 of Tiny Desk performances that year. Chavez also won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in 2014 with her Spanish anthem, “Siete-D.”
