Dan Russell and Boketto the Wolf Live From the Red Room

Tune in to birnCORE tonight, March, 31st @ 8 PM EST for a live broadcast from The Red Room @ Cafe 939 featuring Dan Russell and Boketto the Wolf.

Dan Russell is a highly revered artist manager and advocate, concert promoter, producer, creative collaborator, and video and film music supervisor. He has worked with the likes of U2, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Sam Phillips, Switchfoot, and countless others.

Although he was greatly successful on the business side of the music industry, his love for music started after high school as a singer and guitarist. After many years working on the business side, his true passion for songwriting called him back and he decided to pursue that part of his life. The guitars then came out of their cases and studio time was booked to record a series of his personal songs, the cryings of his own heart.

A combination of effected electric, raw folk, crafty lyrics and layered harmonies, Boketto the Wolf has defined their presence amongst the Boston music scene.

In Tall Buildings and Photocomfort Live From The Red Room

Tune in to birnCORE Friday, March 30th @ 8 PM EST for a live broadcast from The Red Room @ Cafe 939 featuring In Tall Buildings and Photocomfort.

In Tall Buildings is a one-man polymathic project of Chicago songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Erik Hall. Producer and engineer Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron & Wine) joined him in the studio for his last album, Driver, back in 2015.

PopMatters said, “Driver is heavy on melodies and breezy in its effortlessness. It’s the kind of album that moves in different ways during different times and reveals aural layers on multiple listens.”

Based out of Boston, Photocomfort is the electro pop project of Justine Bowe. Her music takes influence from radio pop of the 90’s in Alanis Morissette and Dido as well as the more modern Radiohead and Solange. She has shared the stage with acts such as Whitney, Beruit, and Glass Animals. Her new EP, Understudy, is out later this year and features soaring vocal hooks over nimble electronic arrangements.

Sam Moss Plays Birn Alive on Saturday, March 31

This week on Birn Alive: Sam Moss

Sam Moss is a finger style guitarist, turned singer songwriter based out of Boston. His early music includes recordings of instrumental folk guitar, but his sound has gradually evolved to be more lyrically centric. His acclaimed 2016 release, Fable gained attention from WXPN, calling it “an easy-flowing, so-wonderful-to-listen-to collection of un-weighted folk-rock. This is the kind of well-crafted music that looks simple to make, but requires a certain level of skill, focus, and imagination to put together.”

BIRN Alive is home to great live performances and insightful conversation every Saturday at 4:00 PM EST.

Tune in here.
