Tune into birnCORE on Thursday, January 24 at 8:00 p.m. for a performance by rock band The Nude Party live from the Red Room at Cafe 939.
The Nude Party congealed as one unit in the southern mountain town of Boone, North Carolina, in 2013 and gained its namesake very literally. Bonded by isolation, house party debauchery, a religion based on pushing the limits of bad taste, and a precocious predisposition towards the Kinks, the Animals, and the Velvets, they have burgeoned into a rock ’n’ roll act to be reckoned with.
As the hysteria at the band’s local shows steadily increases, so does its reputation with local law enforcement, forcing them to seek employment anywhere but home. The band has been occupying itself with a string of self-booked tours and one-night stands, which have linked them up with bands such as the Growlers, the Oblivians, La Luz, Night Beats, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
Mariam Saleh’s project she began performing under the heady moniker of BONG WISH in the Massachusetts of yesteryear. Drawing from British folk rock and fantasy, Bong Wish skews to the far out lyrically, encouraging universal love and inner peace.
