Ryan McMullan and Ken Yates play Cafe 939

January 25, 2020 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EST

Tune in to birnCORE on Saturday, January 25 at 8:00 p.m. for a live broadcast from the Red Room @ Cafe 939 featuring folk pop singer-songwriters Ryan McMullan and Ken Yates.

One of Ireland’s finest upcoming talents, Ryan McMullan is a singer-songwriter recognized for his captivating melodies and soul-stirring voice. His single “Rebellion” was written with and produced by Iain Archer, who’s impressive credits include Snow Patrol’s “Run” and James Bay’s “Hold Back the River” among others. In McMullan’s own words, the folk anthem is about “doing the things we don’t want to and having to pretend and act like we do”. Built on a simple guitar riff with a strong focus on the vulnerable lyrics, the song gives fans a glimpse into his upcoming debut album to be released in 2020. Praised by legends like Ed Sheeran and Gary Lightbody, Ryan McMullan is a promising new act catching fire in the folk pop world.

Ken Yates is a singer-songwriter born and raised in London, Canada, and is considered one of the country’s brightest songwriters. His album Huntsville won songwriter of the year and new artist of the year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. After almost a decade of extensive touring, supporting artists like Passenger, Stu Larsen, Rose Cousins and Jenn Grant, Yates is starting to find peace in his role as an independent artist. “Lately I’ve been able to take a step back and look at all the things I’ve been able to achieve almost purely on my own, and I’m starting to appreciate the small victories now”. Yates will be going on a national headlining tour in 2020 to celebrate his new music releases.

The show starts at 8:00 p.m. EST and you can stream it here.
