Mark Mulcahy and Philip B. Price play Cafe 939
October 11, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EDT

Tune in to birnCORE on Friday, October 11 at 8:00 p.m. for a live broadcast from the Red Room @ Cafe 939 featuring acclaimed singer-songwriters Mark Mulcahy and Philip B. Price.
Praised as “the Jonathan Richman of jangle pop” and winning approval from rock contemporaries Thom Yorke and Michael Stipe, Mark Mulcahy has journeyed far since leading his former band Miracle Legion in the ’80s. With the recent release of his sixth solo album The Gus, the New England born songwriter is continuing to explore his artistic boundaries by writing music from a fresh perspective. The Gus‘s elaborate, introspective and story-like lyrics were crafted from Mulcahy’s drive to “up his lyrical game” after feeling inspired by George Saunders’ works. Tirelessly recreating and innovating his craft, Mark Mulcahy won’t be disappointing his long-time listeners any time soon.
Philip B. Price may be best known as the frontman of Winterpills, but offers a promising and unique outlook to the alternative rock world. Set to release his first record since 2004 titled Bone Almanac, Price’s return to making solo music is long-awaited. Bone Almanac looks closely into current hot topics such as climate change, in which Price says “there will be more (albums) of those. Maybe call it volume one.” With impressive credits under his belt such as engineering for Frank Black of The Pixies and a collaboration with author Jonathan Lethem, Philip B. Price is one to keep an eye on.
The show starts at 8:00 p.m. EDT and you can stream it here.
