Sweet Crude and Tory Silver Live from the Red Room

July 9, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm EDT

Tune into birnCORE on Tuesday July 9 for exciting and multifaceted performances by Sweet Crude and Tory Silver, live from the Red Room at Cafe 939.

Six-piece band Sweet Crude consistently delivers exciting shows featuring enough drums for a small marching band, exuberantly bellowed harmonies, and lyrics that jump from English to Louisiana French in a single verse.

All members of Sweet Crude hail from Louisiana, growing up with grandparents who spoke the region’s native dialect as their first language.  Their music phases in and out of genres and languages including zydeco and Cajun French, and using English as well. Sweet Crude draws its influences from New Orleans music, pop, and indie rock to produce a sound that is modern and sophisticated. The band gives the best of both worlds combining multicultural music, and modern western pop

Sweet Crude released its debut LP Créatures in April 2017, and have played major United States festivals such as Bonnaroo, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and High Sierra. The band also won the Big Easy Award for best rock band in New Orleans in 2017.

Tory Silver, Ohio born singer-songwriter now based in Boston, is inspired by bossa nova, folk, and rock music. Known for unique and harmonically complex chord progressions and a warm, melodic voice, Silver uses her music not only as an outlet lyrically, but also as an opportunity to create something captivating on the guitar.

In October, NPR tweeted that her latest EP, Pepper, was the best thing on their monthly playlist. Pepper is a follow up to her debut album Observere.

Tune in here to listen on birnCORE.
