December 16, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EST

Tune in to birnCORE on Monday, December 16 at 8:00 p.m. for a live broadcast from the Red Room @ Cafe 939 featuring alt-pop singer-songwriter Emilia Ali with special guests plainfacedgirl and Maria Ellis.
It can be hard to stay tough as a woman in this industry and country, but it’s much easier to remember your self-worth when you surround yourself with powerful, loving, and positive women. The Girls Like You tour is about bringing that feeling of female power and love to life.
Boston-based singer-songwriter Emilia Ali has captivated fans with her debut 7-song extended release of Dreamland along with her vocal feature on Dwilly’s infectious single “ADD.” With her refreshing bubbly personality and positive energy, Ali does not shy away from speaking about the messages of sexual liberation and gender equality saying, “Women especially deserve to say whatever they want and not be taken advantage of for it. You see it all the time. Just because we have these feelings doesn’t mean anything. It’s how we’re feeling and we are allowed to sing about it, we’re allowed to chill.”
Ali carries herself with good-natured confidence while remaining incredibly humble and vivacious, which shines through her fresh and honest lyrics. After playing the American Eagle stage at her first Lollapalooza in 2018, Emilia Ali’s career can and will only go up from here.
Upon releasing her debut album doubledutch, plainfacedgirl has created a sound that’s in a lane of its own, incorporating smooth vocals and dialogue that radiates female empowerment and confidence. Her unique and refreshing style is ahead of its time and sets the bar high for the music industry as a whole.
Maria Ellis is a rising pop singer, songwriter, and producer from Long Island whose vocals are full of power and vulnerability that can be felt in every song she sings. Ellis mainly incorporates Pop and R&B into her music, although growing up a fan of many genres. She approaches the musical process from a place of rawness and honesty, committed to rising to the level of art. With releases like “Give Me Love” and “When I’m Leaving You” she has done just that.
The show starts at 8:00 p.m. EDT and you can stream it here.
