Cinders and Sub-Radio play Cafe 939
October 15 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EDT
With a sound that has been described as “rowdy acoustic pop,” Cinders blends acoustic textures, indie vocals, catchy melodies, and “frenetic live energy that can only be found at a punk show.” In 2015, Jordan Zabriskie (vocals, acoustic guitar), Montana Smith (vocals, electric guitar), and Adrian De La Cruz (bass) formed the band in high school, later completing the six-piece lineup with members Brad Bennet (drums), Austin Harris (keyboard, multi-instrumentalist), and Chelsey Powell (saxophone, vocals) in 2017.
Influenced by bands such as Head and the Heart, Motion City Soundtrack, The Front Bottoms, and Grouplove, Cinders has cultivated their own unique yet familiar sound, blending the very eclectic musical tastes from each member of the band into one cohesive unit. Their latest 2018 release, Looking Forward to Looking Back, has a melancholic alternative/emo sound that differs from the bubbly feel-good energy of their 2016 self-titled LP. Intertwining explosive energy, darker themes, and a hopeful undertone, Cinders is a force to be reckoned with.
Founded by six childhood friends, Sub-Radio started building a following in Washington DC with a sound reminiscent of bands such as Walk the Moon, Two Door Cinema Club, Passion Pit, and Maroon 5. Its massive pop-rock sound and high-energy performances have put Sub-Radio on the map up and down the east coast, earning them performances at Firefly Music Festival, Capital Pride, Launch Music Conference & Festival, and Celebrate Fairfax. Its 2019 EP Dog Years, produced by Dylan Bauld (flor, Halsey, LIGHTS) and mixed by Andrew Maury (Shawn Mendes, COIN), gives the listener an energetic rush while finding a way to hit you deep.
Sub-Radio is composed of Adam Bradley (vocals), Matt Prodanovich (guitar, vocals), Michael Pereira (drums), John Fengya (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Barry Siford (bass), and Kyle Cochran (guitar, keyboards).
The show starts at 8:00 p.m. EDT and you can stream it here.
