Mike Mains, Brett Newski and The Racer: Live from the Red Room, Wednesday, Oct 11 at 8:00 pm on birnCORE

Mike Mains is a Detroit-based musician who loves rock and roll. Performing more than 300 shows in the last three years, Mains has built a committed fan base. His shows are high-energy, interactive, and exciting. Last year, wanting to spice things up a little, he played his first “Living Room Tour.” This 35-date North American tour brought him into the homes and backyards of fans to perform his music in a new context, offering a unique, intimate view into his songs. Mains is currently working on his third full-length LP.

Brett Newski has lived all over the world, and has written many songs along the way. Newski’s sophomore LP, Land Air Sea Garage, was recorded partly at a surf camp in the Sri Lankan jungle, and partly at home in Wisconsin. The album is about diving into the world with no safety net and landing on your feet. It draws influence from artists such as Violent Femmes, Jonathan Richman, The Mountain Goats, early Weezer, Frank Turner, and Elliott Smith.

The Racer is an indie band from Monroe, New York. The band eschews labels, and can hardly be categorized by one genre. Their sound is influenced by artists such as Kings of Leon, Radiohead, The National, and Death Cab For Cutie.
