Cabaret: The Real Meaning of Valentine’s Day Live on birnCORE!

Tune in to birnCORE on Wednesday 2/14 for Cabaret Live from The Red Room @ Cafe 939.

Cabaret is an intimate, live showcase of Broadway favorites and musical theater–inspired originals. This student initiative, which began in 2012, gives musical theater enthusiasts at Berklee the chance to perform in a professional setting beyond the main stage musical season. This month’s theme is the Real Meaning of Valentine’s Day, showcasing songs that relate to peace, freedom, civil rights, and love. Any song that fits this theme is accepted.

St. Valentine was a priest when Rome’s ruler, Claudius, believed that soldiers were more effective on the battlefield when they were not married. He decreed that no marriages or engagements were allowed in Rome. St. Valentine decided to perform marriages secretly, but was discovered by Claudius and sentenced to death for his crimes. After his death, he was named a saint.

Tune in live HERE.
