Brenna Carroll, Ben Higginbotham, and Toledo: Live at the Red Room, Wednesday, July 19 at 7:00 pm on birnCORE

Three gorgeous Boston/Berklee-based acts (and I don’t say that lightly) take the stage at Cafe 939 for a FREE show! Bring a hard hat. They just might blow the roof off the place.

Brenna Carroll is a singer-songwriter from the Washington, D.C., area. She enjoys writing and arranging music for herself as well as for other artists in the pop, folk, and R&B genres. She has performed frequently around Boston and New York City in addition to Valencia, Spain. Currently, Carroll is living in Boston, since graduating from Berklee with a degree in contemporary writing and production. Caroll has also recently released her self-titled debut EP.

Ben Higginbotham is a recording artist, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Dallas, Texas. He lives in Boston, but splits his time between New York and Nashville, co-writing and gigging. He has played venues such as the Bitter End in New York City and the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, as well as countless venues in and around Boston. Although Higginbotham is capable of writing in any style, the music he releases himself could be best described as alternative folk. He draws inspiration from a wide range of artists, including Bon Iver, the Staves, Ben Folds, Randy Newman, Kurt Elling, and Al Jarraeu.

Tolėdo is an indie folk group based out of Boston. The band features Daniel Alvarez and Jordan Dunn-Pilz, who have been writing music together since 2009. Blending their singer-songwriter roots with a contemporary folk sound, this young group presents a mature understanding of the genre with hybrid sounds and emotional stories.
