This Is Now: The Jam (Preserving the Finer Things)

Live on the air Thursday, 6pm

Jam The Jam: Music that makes you move your head. Music that makes you groove. Music that makes you say "uhhhh." Thats what this is all about. Good music blended with news that keeps you moving. In the words of a rapper, "Its going down."

Urban Music Outing

Posted on 08/10/2010 by Geoffrey Mutchnik
August 7th was a great day; my first experience seeing an "urban music festival" down at Boston city hall plaza. The overall experience was a little shaky, but some of the performances were great.

Ryan Leslie (THE man) and his band killed their set and I was disappointed that not more people were digging it and all they wanted to hear was a quantized track played through digital turntables and covered with terrible rap.

Ryan Leslie - August 7th 2010

After the serious wait for the headliner, Wiz Khalifa, to get onto the stage, he was quickly rushed off the stage as about 50 fans nearly tackled him. The event almost came to an unexpected end after that but police were called in and the set finished off... even though in my opinion, it was pretty weak.

But a more positive surprise, Bad Rabbits, a local Boston hip hop/rock/rap/rnb/funk group killed it, and totally unexpeceted too. When I heard the name "Bad Rabbits" announced I was a little uneasy, but once they started playing, I stood up and was tuned in. Good news for you is you can check them out of Myspace at http://www.myspace.com/badrabbits or even download their EP titled "Stick Up Kids" for free on their website http://www.karmaloop.com/badrabbits/ .

This will be my last post for the semester and I look forward to a bright fall. Thanks to all listeners and readers, I appreciate it sincerely as well as the BIRN.

Until September,
Geoffrey

My first experience in Boston for July 4th was phenomenal and I captured some cool pictures of the nights festivities.
