So light some candles, grab a bottle of lotion, and join me on my show, "Can I Haz Progzorz?" on Friday nights from 7pm to 9pm and together we'll experience artists like King Crimson, The Faceless, or Buckethead in a new light.

Not only is there a new show of "Can I Haz Progzorz?" on 6/4 (I promise I'll find something in 6/4 to play), but also this is a edition special show. If you tuned in last week, you know that this week is the songs of epic proportions! And if you didn't, now you know! This only includes songs over 10 minutes long! Epic progressive rock/metal symphonies coming your way. So sit back, grab a bottle of lotion, light some candles, and experience music like never before!

The New (same ol') "Can I Haz Progzorz?"

Posted on 05/23/2010 by The Funnel Weaver
Welcome to the "Can I Haz Progzorz?" the only show on the Birn devoted to bringing you that little subgenre that pushes boundaries of music and takes them to the extreme.

It's unfortunate to no longer be working with DJ Nate Nasty anymore, but not much will be changing about the show. I'm very thankful that I got to work with him last semester: it was truly an honor. But the show must go on. The I'll be bringing you the regular segments as usual: the chepic (cheesy epic) and the BDMOTW (Brutal Death Metal of the Week) as well as tons and tons of new music that will be released in 2010. Not to say that the classics of progressive rock won't be aired. Don't be alarmed: They will be. On another note, the summer is looking rather good for interviews too.

I'll see you this Friday, May 28th for a very special show of "Can I Haz Progzorz?" featuring the debut of the Funnel Weaver on his own. Be prepared, lots of new music ahead including Cynic, Orphaned Land, The Ocean Collective, Izze, Sylvan, Avantasia, and Buckethead!

Ætherius will be joining the crew of "Can I Haz Progzorz?" for an exclusive interview!

This group of gentlemen have been working on an album for a very long time and I'm sure have a lot to talk about. They've been under the radar for bit whilst working on the album and are finally making their first public appearance since early 2009. Also, they have a fun little teaser of the new album to premiere and will be taking over playlist duties (heh doody) and bring in some music that helped inspire them during the writing/recording process. You don't wanna' miss this interview! See ya then.

Our weekly segments....

Posted on 02/23/2010 by Nate Nasty
I know I haven't been keeping up with the weekly segements and I have a feeling I'm going to be dropping a few of them. For those of you who don't remember, the segments were "Rush 'n' Roulette", "Chepic", and "Minefield". As much as I love Rush and 80's hair metal, I'm going to drop the "Rush 'n' Roulette" and "Minefield". Why? Mainly because I don't want to dedicate so much time to 80's hair metal and Rush every week. Now, I'll still continue to play Rush because Rush friggin' rocks! But I'll certainly be keeping the 80's hair metal down to a minimum. Starting this week though, the "Chepic" will return! A chepic is a "cheesy epic"; hence chepic. Chepic bands will include Nightwish,Therion, Turisas, Alestorm, and many other awesome bands that sing about how awesome metal is, dragons, knights, demons, witches, pirates and any other medieval topics. I do this because there is a whole area of prog dedicated to only this type of music, so climb up on your faithful steed and let's gallop into the wings of steel!!!

It's been a while....

Posted on 10/23/2009 by Nate Nasty

So I'm posting this because it's certainly been a while since we've posted anything with actual information. "So what's going?" you may ask. Well, if you haven't been keeping up with us, DJ Bagel and I have been working hard on getting some interviews, and we sure as hell  have gotten some good ones! We first interviewed Misha Mansoor of the band Periphery in Worcester, Ma.

After Misha's interview, we were stoked about getting to have a phone interview with Ty Tabor of the band King's X! He was a great guy and had a ton of interesting things to say.

I asked him a kooky question that really got him off guard. I'm sure he'll remember us for that.... lulz....

After that we got a surprise interview with Fernando Perdomo. We didn't exactly know who this guy was so we did some research and found out that this guy is a legit session guitar player down in Miami. He's played for Jennifer Lopez, Christian Castro, and Mika to name a few. Though he's played for a lot of mainstream, pop acts, Fernando is a HUGE prog-head. We had a lot of very interesting discussions with about what prog is, how it was developed, what is prog now and may other topics were discussed. We were also incredibly goofy which seems to be a staple for our show.

After that awesome interview we had another pretty sweet interview with Marcus Eaton. I know of Marcus Eaton because  two years ago, my band at the time opened up for him over in Hartford. I got the chance to jam with him and i found out that he is one, very skilled guitarist. His style of music, I've often said, is sort of like a progressive John Mayer.

These interviews have been very great experiences for us and, rest assured, we plan to have many more interviews in these upcoming months. Also, all of these interviews that we had with these awesome guests will be made available as podcasts for your listening pleasure! Thanks for listening guys. You can always give shout outs and chit chat with us while we're on the air. We encourage it! Keep rockin'!
