Kate Schutt to Appear on BIRN Alive
June 22 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT
Tune in to BIRN1 Saturday, June 22 at 4 P.M. for a live performance and interview by artist Kate Schutt.
Kate Schutt is a New York City based singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer. Schutt has received education in both Harvard’s English department, where she studied the influence of jazz on modern poetry, and also at Berklee College of Music, where she studied jazz guitar. Growing up, her biggest influence was the electrifying music of Tina Turner, which inspired her to learn how to play the guitar, bass, and drums, and also how to arrange music, produce records, and write film and theater scores.
Not only does she contain an impressive resume for education, but has also racked up the experience of having worked with John Elles (Charlie Hunter), Terri Lyne Carrington (Herbie Hancock), and Viktor Krauss (Lyle Lovett, Bill Frisell), to name only a few. As achievements go, Schutt was the honorary winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in the Jazz Category and received ASCAP Plus Awards for Jazz Composition from 2006-2009.
