Kate Schutt to Appear on BIRN Alive

June 22 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT

Tune in to BIRN1 on Saturday, June 22 at 4:00 p.m. for a live performance and interview with artist Kate Schutt.

Kate Schutt is a New York City-based singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer. Schutt received education in Harvard’s English department, where she studied the influence of jazz on modern poetry, and at Berklee College of Music, where she studied jazz guitar. Growing up, her biggest influence was the electrifying music of Tina Turner, which inspired her to learn how to play the guitar, bass, and drums, and also how to arrange music, produce records, and write film and theater scores.

Not only does she have an impressive education resume, but she has also racked up the experience of working with John Elles (Charlie Hunter), Terri Lyne Carrington (Herbie Hancock), and Viktor Krauss (Lyle Lovett, Bill Frisell), to name only a few. In 2007 and 2009, Schutt was the John Lennon Songwriting Contest Winner in the Jazz Category, and she received ASCAP Plus Awards for Jazz Composition from 2006-2009.
